The river mouth at Castletown, Isle of Man
Castletown is a lovely little town, and used to be the capital of the Isle of Man. It is built around its castele: Castle Rushen, which is a14th century castle, now restored. 'Blue Peter' and 'Countryfile' viewers will know it as the place where the Annual World Tin Bath Racing Championships are held.
We had a wander around the castle (paid entrance fee, but worth it - great 'living 'exhibitions of life in the days of Lords and Ladies, with tableau scenes and guides dressed up as inhabitants of the castle.) We also visited the pedestrianised shopping centre and had a pint or two in the sunshine, outside one of the pubs on the harbour wall. Very nice too.
