Castle Rushen, Castletown, Isle of Man
This shot was taken from the top of the castle walls of the 13th century Rushen Castle, in the centre of Castletown. The exact date when the castle was built is unknown, but thought to be around 1200. It was the home of the last Norse King Of Man, who died in 1266. Much of the castle was destroyed by Robert the Bruce in 1313, but was later rebuilt in the mid 1300s. Many of the rooms have been recstored to reflect the different time periods of the castle's history. It was once used as a prison and offices as well as the residence of Kings.
