The Point of Ayre, Isle of Man The Ayres Nature Reserve is right at the northern most tip of the Isle of Man. It is a bleak, windswept, empty spot. That is, apart from a few bird watchers, some fishermen and the local refuse tip. We could just make out the Scottish coast in the distance, when we were there.

Desolate, like being on the edge of the world, especially as the mist rolled in over the pebble beach....
