The Sound and the Calf of Man, Isle of Man
We drove right down to this southernmost tip of the island on a very unpromising morning. The mist was like pea soup and we were sure we would be able to see nothing at all. Imagine our delight when we were met with this gorgeous view! Simply stunning! Moods thus restored, we took trillions of photos of everything in sight the gulls, each other, the sea, the sky, the view. The Calf of Man itself is a tiny islet, separated from the rest of the Isle of Man, by the Sound. It is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve, with good nesting sites for Chough. Manx Shearwater and other species. There are boat trips across there in the summer, but no facilities on the islet. Very pretty and well worth a visit.
