Tynwald Hill, Isle of Man
Tynwald Hill is about two and a half miles from Peel, at the village of St Johns. On Tynwald Day (July 5th, a public holiday), the National celebration of Manx independence takes place here, with origins dating back to the ninth century. The new laws of the land are proclaimed in Manx and English and there is a fair.
