Isle of Man, IOM guide and virtual tour: Tynwald Hill, St Johns, Isle of Man
5th July is National Day of the Isle of Man, also known as Tynwald Day. On this day, the island's ruling authorities proclaim the laws on Tynwald Hill. Before this, a wreath is laid at the National War Memorial. At eleven a.m. a service is held at the Chapel of St John the Baptist and then there is a procession to Tynwald Hill along a path strewn with rushes and lined with flag poles which fly the red national flag and the blue parliamentary flag of the Isle of Man. |
